National Assisted Living Week Appreciation, Luau and Continuing to Cope with COVID

Dear Terraces families and friends,
As most of you know, National Assisted Living Week is a time of great excitement at The Terraces. It’s a week of special events and activities for our residents, and also a time to honor those who make The Terraces hum. The heart and soul of the community, if you will. Once again, I’m requesting that you PLEASE send in your expressions of gratitude to a staff that provides care, support and joy to your loved ones every day. They are committed, compassionate, hardworking and always appreciate having their efforts recognized. Our goal is to drape the lobby and the rest of the community with your notes of appreciation, but we can’t do it without your participation. You can thank the community in general, a director who has been particularly helpful or reliable, or an individual staff member who has gone above and beyond to make your experience of The Terraces a special one. Just email me your letters and I’ll make sure they’re included among those posted on walls and table tops throughout the community.

We are so excited to unveil our plans for the week. Our team is devising all kinds of fun, creative (and COVID-appropriate) events and activities, on which I will update you over the coming weeks.

We are also looking forward to our Annual Luau on August 19. Residents will be treated to door- to-door Island music, dancing, leis, singing—all with an Aloha spirit. We are going to tell them when they hear the music coming down the hallway to open their doors. We can’t wait to see their faces when they discover what we have planned. In addition, Chef Ed has prepared a Luau themed day featuring Aloha Chicken, Coconut Shrimp, Teriyaki Salmon and Kahlua Pork. As always, you will find the photos and video on our Facebook page.

Last week, I included a link to the CDC website with resources for those who are having difficulties during COVID-19. Here’s a great Article that’s even more helpful in providing coping strategies. I’ll also be distributing this to your loved ones.

Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you or your loved one. We will always bend over backwards to help!

Until next week,

Sam Baum
