FAMILY VISITATION UPDATE! AND…..

22 April 2021
by Sam Baum, Community Relations Director

Dear Terraces families and friends-

Coming out of the COVID fog almost feels like coming out of a hibernation over which we had no control. As Spring begins, so too, does a new world. I’m so excited to announce that we are reinstituting family visits inside the building with certain guidelines to ensure your safety and that of your loved ones.

Guidelines for Assisted Living visitors are as follows:

  1. Community visits will start on April 26th and are available seven days a week.
  2. Visits are limited to family members and friends who are fully vaccinated.
  3. Visits will be limited to one hour and one family member or friend at a time.
  4. Visits can be scheduled through the front desk for the designated times, which are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Two visitors per hour are allowed, with the last visit at 5:00 pm (maximum of 16 visitors per day).
  5. Visitors are welcome to be in the their loved one’s apartment or in the courtyard areas.
  6. Until further notice, only residents can dine in the dining room.
  7. Visitors can bring food and drinks for their loved one and dine in the resident’s apartment.
  8. For non-vaccinated family members and friends, courtyard and window visits can be scheduled, subject to previous guidelines. Times slots may be limited,  depending on resident doctor’s appointments. Courtyard visits can be scheduled with Sammie, as before.
  9. For the time being, furry friends are not allowed.

Guidelines for Safe Haven visits are as follows:

To observe social distancing, we can only accommodate 4 visitors per day.
  5. Visitors are welcome to be in their loved one’s room or courtyard areas.
  6. Until further notice, only residents can dine in the dining room. Visitors can bring food and drinks for their loved one and dine in the resident’s room.
  7. For non-vaccinated family members and friends, courtyard and window visits can be scheduled, subject to previous guidelines. Time slots may be limited, depending on resident doctor’s appointments. Courtyard visits can be scheduled with Sammie, as before.
  8. For the time being, furry friends are not allowed.

For both assisted living and Safe Haven, family members (or friends) are allowed to take their loved ones off the property for any reason, with no quarantine upon the resident’s return.  For the safety of our residents and staff, I’m making a strong request that you continue to follow all the protocols we’ve become accustomed to when out in public; avoid large gatherings, wear masks and maintain social distancing.

I’m also thrilled to announce that, beginning on May 1, the dining room will be open for all three meals with no restrictions, other than a limit of three residents per table, as opposed to four. Pre-COVID mealtimes return, which are 7-9 for breakfast, 11:30-1 for lunch and 4-6 for dinner.

Finally (and anti-climatically), we have all the residents’ vaccination cards on file. If you would like the original, please call the front desk for pick up. Alternatively, we can give the original to your loved one.

Stay safe, get vaccinated and welcome back to normal. Just don’t let your guard down.

Warmly,

Sam Baum
