Arts & Crafts
The City of Pasadena and its environs are abundant in cultural and recreational opportunities. Outings to concerts, museums, botanical gardens, sporting events, movie theatres and local restaurants involve residents in the richness of city life. Recognizing that residents may have errands to do, we schedule frequent trips in our community vehicles to shopping malls, supermarkets, drug stores and banks.
So that our calendar is always stimulating and relevant, new residents are interviewed on arrival and all residents are surveyed periodically to gain input about recreational interests. If residents enjoy music, gardening, volunteering or current events and politics, for example, we make every effort to incorporate these activities into their daily lives.
In addition to the many activities sponsored by The Terraces, our residents also form their own self-directed clubs and committees. We encourage and support these groups, seeing them as ways for the residents to influence the direction of the community.
The RejuveNation Singers
In August 2008, over 20 talented residents of the Terraces and the Gardens joined together in an uplifting musical performance, under the musical direction of Betty Vincent. The performance was filmed by New York University film student, Sam Nozik, and three songs performed by the group - dubbed RejueveNation - are now showing on-line. The songs have been viewed over a thousand times, with more viewers checking in every day.
The group performed Happy Together, a 60's hit song by the Turtles, Twist and Shout. by the Beatles, and a medley of Blue Moon/Paper Moon. They rehearsed for a week before spending an exhausting and exhilarating day under the hot lights, singing and performing for the camera and a group of onlookers, who were clearly enjoying themselves almost as much as the singers.
The short film "Happy Together was selected by the global Pangea organization Pangeaday.org - as part of their May 10, 2008 worldwide Pangea Day event.
