What is Assisted Living?
Assisted living is a special combination of housing, personalized support services and health care designed to address the needs of those who want to live independently in their own apartment but require some help with the activities of daily living. A staff of residential assistants and professional managers is on site around the clock to ensure that residents are always able to receive services they need and desire.
How is it Regulated?
Assisted living regulations and licensing vary from state to state. In California, facilities are licensed by the Department of Social Services under Title 22 and are called Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE). For more information on Title 22, see the Department of Social Services website.
